The City Manager evaluates the needs of the community and recommends goals and objectives to be considered by the City Council for the delivery of city services.
He supervises the compilation of the annual city budget. He appoints department heads and oversees establishment of personnel policies.
He is responsible for administration of state and federal regulations as they apply to Belding. In addition, the City Manager carries the Charter-assigned authority to enforce all laws and ordinances in the city.
Responsibilities of the City Manager
The City of Belding operates under a Council/Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by and reports to the City Council. The City Manager oversees and coordinates the city's daily operations.
General policy guidelines, as set by City Council, are directed through the City Manager's Office. The City Manager organizes and directs the policies and activities of all city departments. He also works closely with the Library Board, Recreation Advisory Board, and Planning Commission.
The City Manager advises the Mayor and City Council on city projects and affairs to aid in the conduct of its business. He coordinates city activities internally and externally, with public and private agencies to carry out the policies and goals established by the City Council.
